When you start flaunting your lifestyle, you put a beacon on yourself, almost inviting the evil eye—attracting negative energy and jealousy from others.
If we look at what Jesus taught, we realize that we may unknowingly attract the “evil eye.” Proverbs 23 warns:
“Be careful not to eat too much at a table, lest you attract the evil eye.”
One of the best ways to shield yourself from negative energy is by not flaunting what you have. This is why Jesus was so critical of the Pharisees. He instructed:
“Go pray in secret. Give to others and never speak about it.“
It’s not only wrong to envy others, but it is equally wrong to intentionally provoke envy. Both sides of this equation hold weight. That’s why Jesus healed some people in public but told others to keep quiet. He understood the importance of timing, humility, and purpose in everything.
Early in his ministry, he avoided public recognition, waiting for the right time to reveal himself. And that’s fascinating—because who does that? Who says,
“Yeah, I just built 17 orphanages and made a billion dollars, but I don’t want anyone to know about it.“?
That mindset is completely contrary to human nature.
However, this will be our North Star—if we are helping others, no one needs to know about it except God Himself.
If you are here for public attention or recognition, then you are in the wrong place.
